Resident Discount for Non-EU Citizens

The current regulations extend access to maritime transport subsidies for residents in non-mainland territories, including, in certain cases, citizens who are not members of the European Union.

Who can benefit from this discount?

In addition to Spanish and European Union citizens, certain third-country (non-EU) nationals may also access the resident discount, provided they meet the established requirements.

This measure applies to tickets marketed from 1 April 2013 onwards.

Cases in which it applies

The maritime transport subsidy may be granted to:

  • Third-country nationals who are family members of residents entitled to the discount.
  • Third-country nationals with long-term residence in Spain.

How to prove resident status?

To apply the discount, it is necessary to prove residence in the Canary Islands with the corresponding documentation.

Until automatic verification is available in all cases, the following may be required:

  • Certificate of registration issued by the town hall.
  • Valid residence permit.

Residence validation

Proof of residence is carried out, whenever possible, through the electronic verification system. If this is not possible, it will be necessary to present the documentation in physical format when requested.

Important before travelling

All documents must be valid. If you cannot correctly prove your resident status, the corresponding discount may not be applied.
