Discover what Easy Pass is, how to set it up on your mobile phone, and how to use it to board on inter-island routes in the Canary Islands.
What is Easy Pass from Baleària Canarias?
Easy Pass is a new feature that allows you to have a digital card on your mobile phone to facilitate passenger boarding on inter-island routes in the Canary Islands.
This feature allows you to board directly, if there is availability, without needing to make a reservation, by making the payment and verifying the resident discount in a single step.
Why use Easy Pass?
- Because you save time.
- Because you only pay for what you travel, without paying in advance.
- Because you save paperwork.
- Because you can share it.
- Because it saves paper.
- Because it records all your journeys.
One of the most outstanding advantages of Easy Pass is the possibility to validate passengers’ residency without needing to go to the ticket office. This allows you to save time on your usual journeys.
In addition, the feature allows you to create and manage cards for other users, making it easier for passengers to invite family and friends, manage their payments, and organise trips together.
The boarding system through Easy Pass is based on generating a QR code that contains all the necessary information for boarding, eliminating the need to print physical cards. This code is generated in the Baleària mobile app and shown to staff at the ship access control, allowing a faster and more efficient boarding process.
This approach not only improves the passenger experience but also reduces paper usage, contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly practice.
In summary, Easy Pass is a tool designed for travellers seeking flexibility and speed in their journeys, simplifying the boarding process to the maximum, avoiding queues and unnecessary procedures, and allowing you to pay only for the trips you make.
How to get Easy Pass on your mobile?
You only need to follow a few simple steps through the Baleària app:
- Download the Baleària App.
- Log in to your Baleària Club account or sign up.
- From the App, access Easy Pass and set up your payment method and scan your identification document (DNI, NIE, driving licence or passport) in two simple and quick steps. This step is only done once and is recorded.
- You now have a QR code that you can use every time you board.
Can I use Easy Pass on all inter-island routes?
No, currently it is available on the Playa Blanca <> Corralejo route, but we are working on making it available soon on the routes:
- Las Palmas GC<>Tenerife

Can I book trips with a car or motorbike using Easy Pass?
Yes, it is possible to create a QR for the vehicle (car, motorbike or moped). This QR will always be associated with a passenger and is inseparable.
The creation of the QR will always include the price of the passenger and the price of the vehicle.
How is it created?
- From the App, access “Manage card”, which is where all cards are created.
- The vehicle is always linked to a passenger, the cardholder.
- Fill in the vehicle details and select the card with which the payment will be made.
What information appears on the QR?
- The car + passenger product.
- Registration plate and passenger details for verification at boarding.
- Payment method and amount for the vehicle and passenger journey. The QR does not need to be scanned for the passenger driver, only for accompanying passengers if any.
- Promotional code: there is the possibility of adding a promotional code.
- The occupancy traffic lights to know the status of the ship’s hold.
Important: this feature is new, so to be able to use it, the user must have the latest version of the Baleària App downloaded. If you cannot see this option, please update the App.
Traffic light system for vehicle boarding with Easy Pass
Through Easy Pass, the passenger can see the occupancy of the ship’s hold in real time for the departure they wish to take.
In this case, the passenger must activate location services to use it. Once the tool has permission to know the location, the occupancy traffic light of the hold can be seen in real time on the Easy Pass QR card.
Green: the customer can access the boarding without any problem.
Yellow: occupancy exceeds 75% of the hold. The customer can choose to go directly to boarding or make a reservation to secure their place on board.
Red: no space is available and the customer will not be able to board their vehicle.
I am a Baleària Club member, where can I see the points earned with Easy Pass?
All information about your trips and points earned is in your Baleària Club member profile.
How do I know if my residency is validated?
The Easy Pass system validates residency automatically and recurrently with the Ministry of Development’s SARA system. In some cases, the system may not provide the information and the QR card will appear with a red band of “Residency not validated”.
Please note: if we cannot validate your residency, you will pay the full amount, without discount.
Where can I see my trips made with Easy Pass?
Every time you travel, we send an email to the address you provided when registering with Baleària Club. Additionally, you can check your trips in the Baleària App.
What do I do if I see “Payment pending”?
We know that sometimes the connection can fail and you need to travel at that moment. To ensure you have no problems, if for any reason we cannot charge your card —due to lack of connection, error, block by your bank or insufficient funds— we allow Easy Pass users to make the payment after boarding.
This deferred payment is only allowed once to Easy Pass users. To travel again, you must first settle the pending payment.
How do I get my Easy Pass if I have a European Union Foreigner Identity Number (NIE)?
For the convenience of our customers, the Baleària booking system is integrated into the Ministry of Development’s SARA telematic system, which allows verification if you are a community resident in the Canary Islands.
In this case, to sign up, you must scan the European Union documentation that identifies you instead of the DNI or NIE. Then, you must manually add the NIE number that appears on your documentation and accredits you as eligible for the resident discount. You must add this data in your personal details.
We remind you that the format of the Foreigner Identity Number (NIE) begins with a letter (X, Y or Z), followed by 7 numeric digits, and ends with an alphabetical character.
It is important to note that the NIE should not be confused with the Foreigner Identity Card (TIE), which is the physical document that certifies legal residence in Spain and includes the NIE.
