Easy Pass is a new feature that allows you to have a digital card on your mobile to make it easier for passengers to board inter-island routes in the Canary Islands.

This feature allows you to board directly, subject to availability, without needing to make a booking, making the payment and verifying resident status in a single gesture.

The boarding system using Easy Pass is based on generating a QR code containing all the information required for boarding, eliminating the need to print physical cards. This code is generated in the Baleària mobile app and shown to staff at the access control point to the ship, allowing for a faster and more efficient boarding process.

This approach not only improves the passenger experience, but also reduces paper usage, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly practice.

How can I get Easy Pass on my mobile?

You only need to follow a few simple steps through the Baleària app:

1. Download the Baleària App.
2. Log in to your Baleària Club account or sign up.
3. In the App, access Easy Pass and set up your payment method in two simple and quick steps, then scan your identification document (DNI, NIE, driving licence or passport). This step is only carried out once and is then recorded.
4. You now have a QR code that you can use each time you board.

Can I use Easy Pass on all inter-island routes?

Yes, Easy Pass is available on all inter-island routes:

• Playa Blanca - Corralejo
• Las Palmas de GC - SC de Tenerife
• Los Cristianos - SS de La Gomera
• Los Cristianos - SC de La Palma

Can I book journeys with a car or motorbike using Easy Pass?

Yes, it is possible to create a QR code for the vehicle (car, motorbike or moped). This QR code will always be associated with a passenger and cannot be separated from them.

Creating the QR code will always include the passenger’s price and the vehicle’s price.

How is it created?

1. In the App, access “Manage card”, where all cards are created.
2. The vehicle is always linked to a passenger, the cardholder.
3. Enter the vehicle details and select the card that will be used for payment.

What information appears on the QR code?

1. The car + passenger product.
2. Registration number and passenger details for checking when boarding.
3. Payment method and fare for the vehicle and passenger’s journey. The QR code does not need to be scanned for the driving passenger, only for any accompanying passengers.
4. Promotional code: it is possible to add a promotional code.
5. Occupancy traffic lights showing the status of the ship’s vehicle deck.

Through Easy Pass, passengers can see the real-time occupancy of the ship’s vehicle deck for the departure they wish to take.

In this case, passengers must enable location services in order to use it. Once they have allowed the tool to access their location, the occupancy traffic light for the vehicle deck can be seen in real time on the Easy Pass QR card.

I am a Baleària Club member. Where can I see the points earned with Easy Pass?

All the information about your journeys and points earned is in your Baleària Club member profile.

How do I know whether my residency has been validated?

The Easy Pass system validates residency automatically and regularly using the Ministry of Public Works’ SARA system. In some cases, the system may not provide the information and the QR card will appear with a red band reading “Residency not validated”.

Where can I see the journeys I have taken with Easy Pass?

Each time you travel, we send an email to the email address you provided when you signed up for Baleària Club. You can also check your journeys in the Baleària App.

What should I do if I see “Payment pending”?

We know that the connection can sometimes fail and that you may need to travel at that moment. To ensure that you do not encounter any problems, if for any reason we cannot charge your card — due to a lack of connection, an error, a block by your bank or insufficient funds — we allow Easy Pass users to make the payment after boarding.

This deferred payment is only permitted once for Easy Pass users. To travel again, you must first settle the outstanding payment.

How do I get my Easy Pass if I have a European Union Foreigner Identity Number (NIE)?

For our customers’ convenience, Baleària’s booking system is integrated with the Ministry of Public Works’ SARA telematic system, which makes it possible to check whether you are a community resident in the Canary Islands.

In this case, when signing up, you must scan the European Union documentation that identifies you instead of your DNI or NIE. You must then manually add the NIE number shown on your documentation, which proves that you are eligible for the resident discount. You must add this information to your personal details.

Please remember that the format of the Foreigner Identity Number (NIE) begins with a letter (X, Y or Z), followed by 7 numerical digits, and ends with an alphabetical character.

It is important to note that the NIE should not be confused with the Foreigner Identity Card (TIE), which is the physical document proving legal residence in Spain and which includes the NIE.
