Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs

Guide dogs and assistance dogs are those trained in specialised and officially recognised centres to accompany, guide, or assist people with disabilities.

Can they travel on board?

Yes. Guide dogs and assistance dogs can travel with Baleària Canarias at no additional cost and have free access to passenger areas.

These dogs:

  • Do not occupy a seat or separate accommodation.
  • Stay next to their user during the journey.
  • Must respect coexistence with other passengers.

Conditions during the journey

Both on land and on board, suitable spaces will be provided, whenever possible, for guide or assistance dogs to attend to their needs.

Mandatory requirements

To travel as a guide or assistance dog, the animal must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a valid veterinary record.
  • Wear a collar and lead during the journey.
  • Use a muzzle when necessary, according to regulations.
  • Carry an official badge identifying it as an assistance dog.

Additionally, the user must be able to provide, when requested, official documentation proving the status of guide or assistance dog and their bond with the animal.

Important

If any of the above requirements are not met, the transportation of the animal may be subject to the general conditions applicable to travelling with pets.
