What documentation can I present if I have lost my DNI, passport or NIE?

If you have lost your documentation or it has been stolen before travelling, you can board by presenting alternative documentation that proves your identity.

If you have a photocopy of the lost document

In case of loss or theft of your original document, you can travel by presenting a photocopy of the DNI, passport, NIE or driving licence along with the police report certifying the loss or theft.

If you do not have a photocopy of the document

If you do not have a photocopy of the lost document, the police report must expressly state that “identity is confirmed”, so that your identity can be verified.

A police report that only states “claims to be” will not be valid, as it does not officially prove the passenger’s identity.

Other valid documents to identify yourself

You can also present your driving licence or passport as identification, without needing to provide the police report, provided they are valid and prove your identity.

Important if you are travelling with a resident discount

These documents prove your identity, but do not validate your resident status. If you are travelling with a resident discount, you must present the specific documentation proving this status when requested.
